Florian Schäfer is a German-born author and artist born in 1991. Fascinated by Central European folktales from a young age, Florian studied Biology and International Conservation at in Germany and New Zealand. His passion for cultural history led him to volunteer in European Ethnology for years.
In 2017, Florian founded Forgotten Creatures to share mythical tales with a broader audience. His first popular science book, Hausgeister! published in 2020, delved into the world of household spirits of german folklore. Eye of Newt Books will release its English translation in 2023.
An artist, Florian crafts lifelike sculptures based on historical descriptions from a variety of sources. Through engaging performances and readings, he and his team revive interest in our past's nearly forgotten mythical creatures.
