Janin Pisarek is a folklorist and cultural scientist based in Germany. Her research focus is on Thuringian folklore, European folk tales, demonological sagas and mythical figures of the German-speaking world, as well as biographical storytelling. She publishes a great deal in the field of historical-comparative narrative research. Inspired by myths and folklore she also occasionally illustrates for books, records or merchandise.
With her extraordinary passion for demonic legendary figures, her specialist expertise and extensive collection of folklore literature, she is the expert for the world of myths, folk tales and legends at Forgotten Creatures since 2019. This project aims to impart knowledge about legendary figures to a broad audience. Together with Florian Schäfer, she is responsible for the content, texts and their scientific correctness.
